The Radość-Joy Vocal Group originated in Mississauga, Ontario in the fall of 1992. As the group begins its 10th year, the goal of traveling to, and performing in Poland, may become a reality. Ania Piwowarczyk, the founder of the group, began with a small group of 18 children and she continues to work with Radość-Joy, as Artistic Director.
The group consists of young people between the ages of ten and nineteen, having in common, a Polish background. Radość-Joy is known for it's unique character and varied repertoire, which embraces not only Polish songs and dances, but also those of other nationalities. Each of Radość-Joy's vocal numbers is enriched by choreography and performed in colourful costumes, some authentic and others especially designed, stylized and sewn for the group. The repertoire also includes a wide variety of liturgical music, both Polish and English. The Vocal Group is equally at ease on a large stage, as well as in a chapel.
Radość- Joy regularly performs at banquets, senior homes, hospitals and festivals, both in Canada and the United States. The group has performed at the polish Singers of America Conventions in New York and Hamilton, and has been a regular guest at the Cheektowaga Polish-American Festival for the past five years.
Radość-Joy has also been the recipient of various awards, among them: Award of Merit (Polish Congress), Citizen of the Year (AmPol Eagle, Buffalo New York) and top awards at the Festival of Religious Songs in Mississauga.
Radość-Joy presents and exiting 1.5 to 2 hour concert containing songs and dances of Polish and International flavour, as well as appearances by Ania Piwowarczyk. Pani Ania is a well-known Polka style singer and recording artist in the United States, performing with Jan Lewan and his orchestra at many Polish festivals and dances.
